End of WW II (1945) – Page

From the book  Arms’ Crossroads – Wallington  page 141 by The Wallington Cobblestone Schoolhouse Restoration Committee 1982

When the radio announcement that peace had been declared in World War II, was heard in Wallington, many people ran into the streets with shouts of joy.  Lester Judson unlocked the church building and with the aid of Fred Hausman lifted “little Tommy Kimpland” to the bell rope and told him to “hang on.” Tom remembers riding up and down on the rope as Fred and Jud pealed the bell with vigor. About that time someone sounded the fire alarm. It was a happy evening in Wallington.
