Phyllis Lent (2019)

This is a 26 minute interview with Phyllis Lent that took place on July 31, 2019. She was interviewed by Bill Sitzman about her life spent in Sodus Point. At the time of the interview, Phyllis Lent  was 80 years old and was born in 1939.

 

  • Phyllis, born 1939, lived all her life in Sodus/ Sodus Point. Married to George Lent, who ran garage on Margaretta Rd., son, Carl Lent still runs it.

  • Lived outside of village on Deerlove Farm, N. Geneva Rd., enjoyed riding horses with her father

  • Mother, Dorothea Waite Featherly; Father, Warner Featherly

  • Phyllis – life-time and active member of Methodist Church, Sodus Pt.

  • Featherly Family lived for generations on neighboring farmland on N. Geneva Rd., just a bit south of Margaretta Rd.

  • Phyllis’ father, Warner Featherly – was superintendent of Sodus Bay Heights golf course for may years including the timeframe  when it went from 9 holes to 18 holes

  • His father, William (Bill) Featherly – worked at Alasa (Strong) Farm

  • His father, Robert Featherly

  • His father, Abram Featherly – farmer and was one of the first deacons at the Sodus Point Methodist Church.
