2017 is the centennial of roads being paved in Sodus. By 1917, according to The Record, one in 16 families owned an automobile. With more cars being built and bought, improved roads for the faster speeds an automobile afforded, became a necessity. Thus paved roads began and would be ever expanded over the years. A lesser known date is that 2019 will be the centennial of pot holes in those paved roads!
