The March 4th, 1943 Sodus Record reported the death of C Ray Tinklepaugh at age 67 on Feb. 27, 1943. The article said this about him: “ He was the first rural carrier out of the Sodus Post Office beginning his duties Nov 1st, 1900, when Prine Riggs was the Postmaster. He retired exactly 33 years later. Not content to quit work entirely, he established a coal agency and also acted as Sexton at St. John’s Episcopal Church”.
