This video was taken at the “Spirits of Sodus Walk and Talk” Cemetery Tour on October 19, 2024. Here Jeremy Cummings tells the story of his life (1817 – 1898). Oril Smith, Sr. opened the first hardware store in Sodus, on Main Street, and he built the house on Maple Ave. that is now half of the Sodus Community Library. He was also a farmer who owned the land that became Smith Street, in the village of Sodus between Maple Ave. and Belden Ave.
