The following information was taken from a scrapbook of Harold Weigartz who was a Camp Beech-Wood ranger from 1975 -1997. A special “Thanks” to Jan Stouch for arranging for us to borrow this scrapbook to share for posterity.
Camp Beech-Wood was a girl Scout camp located on 175 acres of land on Lake Road 4 miles west of Sodus Point. It was open from 1929 – 1996 and left wonderful memories for 3 generations of girls who participated in the fun activities that the camp provided.
Jean Seymour wrote a detailed history of the camp that was featured in the July, August, September and October 2013 issues of the Sodus Bay Historical Society Newsletter. In these articles she told of :
