Instructions for doing the tour:

  • You can do either a virtual tour (from your computer at home) or if you have a smartphone, you can use it as you walk around physically visiting each  site.

  • When you click the link below, it will generate a map showing the location of each of the sites represented by a bubble marker.

  • You can toggle between the tour and  these instructions by hitting the back and forward arrows at the top left of the screen.

  • If you are using a smartphone, The driving instructions can be toggled on and off the screen. At the top of the instructions is a “<” arrow. By pressing this the instructions disappear off the screen. To make them reappear, press the “>” button. You can zoom in and out of the map by using two fingers.

  • The tour starts at the Sodus First Reformed Church / former Sodus Opera House site (12-086 on the map). The tour directions are on the left, leading you from site to site.

  • Click the bubble for each site on the map and it will bring up photos and information about that site. Some sites will represent buildings that no longer exist such as the Basket Factory. You may want to click the – button on the bottom right of your screen to see all 13 sites contained on the map. Each site has an audio sound bite telling its story. Click the audio button to listen to it.  Some of the sites also contain videos you can watch. To go back to the map, click the left arrow at the top of your screen. Continue on to the next site (12-173) and repeat this process. When you have finished the last site, click the X button on the top right of your screen to exit the tour.

  • This Walking Tour is approximately 1.6 miles long and will take about 65 minutes if you physically walk it.

  • On many of the sites, we have provided links for additional information.
