/ Silver Buses Migrant Farm (1970s) – Page
In the 1970’s, one migrant farm used Silver Buses to house their temporary migrant workers that were here to harvest the apple crop. Photo and information from the 1979 book: “Wayne County: The Aesthetic Heritage of a Rural Area” by Stephen W. Jacobs with Photographs by David Plowden. Permission courtesy of the Wayne County Historical Society.
According to Bill Huff, Jr., prior to the silver buses (circa 1950s), the owner of the farm used WW 2 surplus airplane gliders (minus their wings) to house migrant workers!
