Helfers ran boat livery and boat repair business in Sodus Point for years; probably 1900’s – 1950’s.

George Helfer is well remembered by many older Sodus Pointers as running the “Driftwood” boat from Sodus Point to many cottages on the Bay.

He also ran a rescue service before Coast Guard Station was started.

Knew and mentioned many families that had cottages and/or lived/ worked in Sodus Point then.
