Bill Sitzman (born 1942) is a long-time Sodus Bay Historical Society member & lives near Trumansburg, NY.
Gene Bassage (born 1927) grew up on a farm in Walworth, NY but spent many summers on S. Shore Rd., Sodus Point. Gene & his father, Homer and grandfather ran a Ford dealership for years.

Gene remembers roads, cottages, businesses and people here in the 1930’s-40’s, etc..

Gene’s parents were Josephine (Sherburne) and Homer Bassage.

Gene’s paternal grandfather was Velorous Bassage.

E. Bassage store was on the corner of Irwin St. and Greig St. , approx.. 1911. It was run by Gene’s great uncle (Loran or Louis) Bassage. By boat, they delivered groceries and even gasoline to people on the islands, Charles Point, etc..
